The kids are on kitten watch, hoping they will be able to see the blessed moment (unschooling biology and sex ed in action there!) but so far no births have occurred. Just one every-expanding mama cat. She is not terribly happy about staying indoors but we don't want her to wander off into the woods to have the kittens. She does get to go out on the upper balcony for some fresh air though. Stay tuned...

No Kittens Yet
The kids are on kitten watch, hoping they will be able to see the blessed moment (unschooling biology and sex ed in action there!) but so far no births have occurred. Just one every-expanding mama cat. She is not terribly happy about staying indoors but we don't want her to wander off into the woods to have the kittens. How exciting! You know, three years ago today (August 11th) a cat that I had rescued just a week before gave birth to four kittens in my closet. My siblings were 13 and 10 at the time, and seeing those kittens enter into the world was one of the most amazingly cool homelearning experiences they could hope to have.
Hope everything goes smoothly with your mama kitty :-) btw, we still have momma cat and three of her kittens. It's so hard not to get too attached.
